May 19th continued
The tunnels that I've posted are from the Tehacapi Circle. The train has to go around the mountain a couple of times to make it to the top! It does this going in and out of the side of the mountain.
The large red building is a Farmers Market just after we got into the Bakersfield area -- but it was still out on the edge of what was desert looking area so we were calling it an oasis.
May 19th Continued - Wind Farm and Solar Panels
You will not believe how many wind mills and solar panels we went by! Oh maybe you will after you look at these pictures. You need to click on them and view them large - they don't show up unless you do.....
May 19th - Drive from Barstow to Vasalia California
This day was not as bad as others -- it was 200+ miles but it was not all desert and it went by much faster and much less wind. The area between Barstow and right up to Tehacapi Pass was still desert but had a ton of wind mills. The roadway once we got on CA99 was not really very nice but the scenery was green fields.

As you will see from these there really is such a thing as tumbleweed! Also, there are some beautiful Mountains but they are far and few between......
