6/25 - Arriving in Glacier Bay

6/25 - heading toward Glacier Bay

These pictures are all taken after midnight - what an amazing place - it remained light for a very long time. I had to close the curtain or I would never have stopped looking at the sights! Of course, by this time, Mr. Ed was fast asleep hours ago.....

6/24 - More Skagway departure pictures

6/24 - Departing Skagway heading for Glacier Bay

We are departing Skagway and heading for Glacier Bay - it is 9:00 pm and look at how much light we still have. We are due to arrive in Glacier Bay National ParAdd Imagek at 7:00 am. This evenings views were spectacular.

6/24 - Our raft guide - Alex -- he was the best!

6/24 - views from the river

6/24 - Four eagles at a time!

We had to take a close look at this picture - when will we ever see 4 balde eagles sitting in one area at the same time! --- Probably never again!!!!!

6/24 - some of the eagles we saw

I won't post all of the eagles we saw and took pictures of but will give you an idea of what we saw. The brown and white are young balde eagles not golden eagles. As you can see some of the pictures are not quite as clear as I would have liked but when you are rafting down the river it's not as easy as being stationary.

6/24 - Float Trip

We arrived at the pier in Haines and were met by a school bus which took us out to the river. You can see pictures of the school bus and box truck which brought us boots and life jackets as well as our lunch for the end of the float!

6/24 - Travel across the Lynn Fjord to Haines

6/24 - Skagway

6/24 - Skagway

We arrived in Skagway at approximately 5:30 am but were not allowed to disembark until 7:00 am. Are time here was from 7 am to 9:00 pm. It was a great little town and lots of neat things! Many people took the WhitePass train but Ed and I decided that we would take the Eagle Preserve Float and Lynn Fjord Cruise. We are very glad that we did. I stopped counting Eagles at 40! It was a perfect day as you will see from the pictures.

6/23 - Juneau

Before I leave the Juneau pictures behind - I just wanted to let you know that we arrived in Juneau at 2:00 pm in the afternoon and we departed at 10:00 pm that same evening. It was a wonderful visit. We took a combined tour - Whalewatching and Mendenhall Glacier Tour. It was a great combination.

6/23 - a few more pictures of Juneau!

Ed is having is picture taken with the Ranger at the Mendenhall Glacier - they had fun! The distance shot is of Juneau Harbor. I thought that the float plane going over the Norwegian Star was an interesting take. And the mountains just held my interest as well as the whales - we saw 7 whales that day -- how could we ask for more?
